Lives and works in London, England (b.1997)

Artist Statement:

“Each time I create a new piece of work, I seek to answer, raise awareness or find closure in an experience. My mission is to evoke a feeling within me, to capture a moment and release it. We live in such a rigid societal structure, and I find true freedom when I explore my thoughts on canvas – when the work does not need to make complete sense. To be able to experience the push and pull of the process, the enjoyment, and the battle. To overcome each hurdle is when I create most organically.”

Artist Biography:

Sweron’s work tells stories of the unabashed grittiness of modern youth, exploring the sobering reality of addiction, mental health, love, loss, war, and politics. Crisp edges and flat perspective characters conceive a digital-like appearance, juxtaposed on a raw, unpolished canvas expressing a more sincere and natural expression.

By blurring the line between fantasy and reality, Sweron uses exaggerated tropes to further impart his desired message. Irreverent yet provocative subject matter is married on the canvas– from cigarettes to angel wings, and fairies to weaponry. Through being unbound by the initial narrative set out when starting each painting, the artist invites the viewer to interpret further meaning in the organized chaos.
